For the past six months we have been looking for a larger premises for our church admin base and compassion ministry, Re:store Northampton.
As we have prayed, searched and visited a number of different places we think we may of found something. With the added bonus of it being large enough to also accommodate our Sunday services as well.
As a result we believe it is right to take the opportunity (or at least try) to purchase this former Community Centre on the corner of Sheep Street and Lady's Lane in Northampton town centre.
This building is just under 12,000 sq ft, over two floors and would be an ideal fit for us as a church. We believe owning our own building will be a strategic step in the next chapter of our journey together as a church.
This isn't just about facilitating Sunday services, but about creating a vibrant hub of activity in the heart of Northampton, that will seek to serve and bring transformation to everyone we meet.
Throughout the week we envisage this building will be an ideal home of our charity Re:store Northampton, where we will continue to reach some of Northampton's most vulnerable people. There we will continue to distribute food via the Food Bank, create drop in spaces for those looking for support, run our cookery programme in a fully equipped kitchen and come alongside people through our various training programmes.
The property is on the market for £500,000 and in order to make this purchase we will need to take on a mortgage. Taking a mortgage on a property would actually place us as a church in a better financial position than we currently are. Instead of paying nearly £3,000 per month on hiring the High School, storing equipment, maintaining our van and trailer, as well as renting our offices. We would be paying a lower monthly mortgage payment on a building that would house everything we do under one roof. It would also be something we own and give us far more security than we currently have.
To help with the process we have set up a website - that highlights some of our journey and what it is we need to achieve. building.centralvineyard.co.uk
So please visit the site and take a moment to prayerfully consider how you might get involved.
This an exciting and equally quite terrifying process for us to enter into as a church family, but we believe it to be worth the risk and the opportunity and see what Jesus might do.
We do hope you are as excited at the prospect of this as we are!
